Hey guys..Just wanted some feedback..Local ASA league is stating they are going to this ball this spring...Last year it was a 44/375 ball....Will this new ball be super hot? I am noy a ball expert but this seems like an extreme jump and just wanted some opinions..thanks

I think they are going to the 52/275 ball. I have heard other leagues that are going to this. Honestly, the ball is pretty much mush after a few swings...

U-trip has been using what they call the "Classic +" for several years. It is a 52/275.
ASA just leagalized a similar ball but its 52/300. So it will be a little better than its U-trip counterpart, but it won't be as good as the 44/375 were all used to.
The reason ASA and Utrip is going to this type of ball is to counteract the effects of shaving a bat. Suposedly, with these lower compression balls, the shaved bats wont have as big of an advantage.
That's the word on the streets anyway.

Actually it won't be any different. There's no difference in a 275 and 300. There is a 10% tolerance so the core is actually identical. It's like our 400 compared to the current 375, the core compressions are the same. Most differences in balls now a days are in the cover technology. And on a side note, ASA is suppose to be using that ball for all of 2011. We will be using it for 2012.

Jay,
I have one of the ASA 52/275 balls from OK City last year. If you want it to try out, I can send it up to RH with Jeff. Let me know.

thanks partner...ASA guy here in Charlotte has a bunch for sale at Rennaisance so we'll just try one out Monday...Sounds like it may be minimal difference..I know Hector and his brother Alejandro have some for sale down near Cherry park...I ran into them tonight at Applebees where I had my 2 litre soda...

It will be a difference from the 44/375 balls that we hit now but not much of a difference between the diff associations 52/275 balls. They will all leave a bit to be desired.
On another note though, man its good to hear Hector back in the country. What a great family living the American dream. If you see them again, tell them I said hello. And tell Alejandro to try and stay out of jail this year. He's the only man I know that has ever gotten put in handcuffs in the middle of a soccer game. Haha good times! Save me a swallow in the 2 liter.
